Actication of new BB 8830 with ATT carrier

Hi I am very new to BB device..
I just bought BB 8830 and i want to activate it ..
what i could find is for activating it i need to go back to carrier
so can anyone help me with how to activate it ??
or what kind of programming they do for BB activation??

I don't think you'll be able to use an 8830 on AT&T. The 8830 does not operate on North American GSM frequencies. That device works on Sprint and Verizon Wireless--maybe other CDMA carriers. For CDMA, generally, the carrier must accept the ESN to activate the device.

Yup, the GSM feature is only for non-North American carriers. It's designed for CDMA in North America and roaming on GSM in Europe and other foreign lands.
