sync issues!!! please help

I was wondering if anyone can help
I formated my pc and then re installed the bb desktop manager, and then when i synced the address book was all messed up : double entries and in symbols.
Must be something with encoding but i dont know what. I uninstalled the manager and reinstalled. Still the same. Basic problem : it has doubled the entries with symbol - names.

new computer os : windows seven
bb: pearl 8100

What are you using on the PC to sync your contacts with? Outlook? If so, what version?

microsoft office outlook 2003.

What version of Desktop Manager?

Where are the duplicated entries and symbols - in Outlook or on the BB?

Did you configure DM to sync with Outlook?

i have configured sync with outlook. The dublicates are on the handheld. the version of desktop manager is 4.2.0.14

OK. Instal DM 6 - the latest version.

Are all of the contacts in Outlook and are all good, meaning no dupes?

If so, delete the contacts on the BB and then configure the sync to go from Outlook tot he BB only and resync.
