How To: Create your own BlackBerry Wallpapers
How To: Create your own BlackBerry Wallpapers
In this guide I will walk through the process of creating wallpapers for your BlackBerry from any image. All of the steps clearly show what to do. Things you will need: (for software click on the name and it will take you to download page)
Firstly I will give you a few tips as to what will produce a good wallpaper.
Assuming that you have all of the above installed/present we can get started. Navigate to the directory where the image is located, in my case the My Pictures folder. If you saved the image from the web your browser may by default save it in your Downloads folder. Right Click on the image to bring up the context menu and click Resize Pictures. http://daniel-waghorn.co.uk/dwcdn/bb...aper_step1.png Step 2: The following window will appear. http://daniel-waghorn.co.uk/dwcdn/bb...aper_step2.png Have the settings set exactly as shown. To get the custom option click Advanced at the bottom of the window. The table below shows the sizes you need to enter for the BlackBerry model you own. http://daniel-waghorn.co.uk/dwcdn/bb...creensizes.png After entering the correct screen size into the window, click OK. Step 3: The window will have then closed and you will notice YourFile (Custom).jpg will appear in the directory. http://daniel-waghorn.co.uk/dwcdn/bb...aper_step3.png Plug in your BlackBerry and let the computer detect it. You may be prompted to enable/enter disk mode on your device. Right click on the icon of your wallpaper and click Copy. Then go to Computer and Double Click on your phone. Navigate to your pictures directory (usually *Phone/blackberry/pictures/) and Right Click, Paste. The image will now be on your phone. Alternatively you can copy the file over to your phone via Media Manager (included with BB DM normally). Also for those of you who can not use USB for whatever reason the other option is to create a new email on your computer, and attach the wallpaper file to it. Then email it to an address associated with your BlackBerry and within the email scroll onto the attachment, press Menu and Open Attachment. When the image appears onscreen press menu and Save Image. A dialog will pop up asking where you wish to save it, normally Pictures by default. The image will now be in your Pictures from where you can set it as a wallpaper. Lastly another tip; you can do a batch of these by selecting all of the images you wish to resize before Right Clicking, Resize Pictures. Hope this guide helped. Re: How To: Create your own BlackBerry Wallpapers
Hi,
There are quite a few interesting BlackBerry Wallpapers and Themes on the market (see handango). The most interesting wallpapers however, are made from your own photos. You might want to have photos of your family, vacation spots or your pet as a wallpaper on your BlackBerry. To produce high-quality wallpapers you need either a program like Photoshop to do it on your own, or “Wallpaper Generator for Blackberry” to let a wizard guide you through the necessary steps. How to do it with Photoshop (other programs should be similar): 1. open your source Image 2. check the screen resolution of you Blackberry model on 3. select the marquee tool 4. set the maequee tool style to “fixed size” and enter the screen resolution you have found out above 5. select the area of the picture you want to have as your wallpaper, or resize the image until you get the area you want 6. use “Image” -> “Crop” to crop the image to the selected area 7. save your image as a .jpg file 8. send it to your BlackBerry mail address as an attachement enjoy your new own wallpaper :-) |

Re: How To: Create your own BlackBerry Wallpapers
I have a program that can batch crop and resize a lot of images into a size suited for blackberry.
Binaries: hxxp://static.nithinphilips.com/ImageCropper/ImageCropper-Console-1.0.zip Source Code: hxxp://svn.nithinphilips.com/svn/ImageCropper2/trunk/ Basically, if you have a ton of wallpapers in a folder, say C:\wallpapers, and you extracted the program into C:\Downloads you can run this program from the command prompt like so: C:\Downloads\ImageCropper.exe --output-format=JPG --preserve-structure --recurse --aspect=1.33333 --long-side=480 --output-format=JPG "C:\wallpapers" wait for it to finish and you now have wallpapers suited for your BlackBerry (To start the command prompt, type cmd in the run dialog. Then cd to the folder you want the output saved (for example cd C:\blackberrywp) To see all options run ImageCropper.exe --help Depending on your phone, you may have to change the --aspect= and --long-side= options. With the --preserve-structure option, the directory tree structure of the input folder will be kept in the output. |
