one exchange system two independent BES's?

Here's the scoop:

exchange 2007, 1 server, vanilla config.

I currently have a BPS 4.x server with around 15 users on it. We have been buying CALs for it as necessary. It runs on a mssql express database.

I noticed the new bes express is free licensing, so I want to migrate to this so I don't have to continue buying cals, also would like the updated interface etc.

Am I going to run into headaches if I install the new bes express on a different server but pointed to the same exchange, and run them parallel? I would then add new users to the new bes express and later on migrate existing users from old to new as I'm able. It's not a huge number of users, but they are geographically diverse and I couldn't coordinate a cutoff and would love to avoid wiping anyone's blackberry.

no worries pal,

set up a new one completely clean, BES Express.

Add users and you can move the old ones over with the "Blackberry Transporter"

Make sure you set the IT policy to default though before you move them be I keep running into issues with that.

Remember if you change your tarrif to bes express you cant do over the air activation

so (to save me from rtfm'ing) can BES express not do activations over the blackberry network, or is it just wifi activations that's a problem?

I've been doing OTA activations with BPS no problem

You can activate over WiFI, but only if the WiFi is part of your LAN.
It not fun to set up first time, that why I only use OTA and modify the activation email with instrustions on how to activate it.

What's the point of a BES CAL then at this point? Is it just push vs. pull?

If you can activate your phone that has a BIS plan on a BES server, then what's the point of a BES data plan? That's what I meant - and somehow completely messed up in asking it.
