2 BBs on one DesktopManager

Hi all,

I'm very new to BB, so please excuse:oops:

I have two BBs, one 8700 Enterprise from my company and one 8100 Prosumer privat.
I have a company Laptop with Outlook and the BB DesktopManager installed.
I can conect my 8700 w/o any problems and install SW etc.

Can I also connect my privat 8100?

We have once connected the 8700 of a college and my DesktopManager copied all my data to his BB, so we had to reset and reactive BES on his BB.

I don't want to crash my privat BB.

I want to use the DesktopManager to install SW, copy Music etc. and to sync my adresses and calender out of my company Outlook to my privat 8100 BB.

Thanks a lot (y)

If your 8700 is using BIS / Desktop Redirector, I'm not sure.

If it's using BES, then when you plug another BB into Desktop Manager you should get a prompt that says "Your messaging account is currently configured to use device with PIN <PIN of your 8700>. Would you like to switch to the connected device with PIN <PIN of your 8100> instead?". If you say NO to this question you can still load applications on the 8100 (and copy music) without affecting the 8700. I wouldn't touch the PIM and email settings though. If you are not using BES with the 8700, I'd wait until someone else says it's OK to go ahead.

Follow-up Question

My wife and I just got new BB Curves, one for each of us. Can I use the desktop software for both while keeping both BBs data completely independent of each other? I know with Palm, the desktop software allows for multiple profiles to allow for this and keep each Palms personal info seperate? We are using Windows XP and only one Windows user profile. Thanks!
