Interesting Facts - BlackBerry

An infograph on BlackBerry. I think it should have been created in 2011. :bb:https://hothardware.com/newsimages/I...berry-info.jpg

We all know the company started tanking under the original co-CEOs. You can't change history....

But there are those who try and rewrite it.

Hi, I'm new here.

Here are a couple that people probably don't know:

BlackBerry was working on a tablet solution before the iPad came out. It was aimed to be an accessory to the BlackBerry.
BlackBerry was working on a TV set-top box, similar to the Apple TV, based on Linux and with a built-in AppStore.
BlackBerry had a team of people who's job was to work on future looking stuff and they contemplated ideas such as a BlackBerry Bank (years before Apple Pay) and built-in predictive analytics to the OS (years before Siri).

All true but for some reason be it marketing or management they did not move in the right direction. I think people here are all in favor of the Blackberry phones and wish they were doing better. If you look at the latest offerings you will see what is viewed as a copy of many already on the market. To me IMHO they need to be different and stop following others. One is the security offered by the Blackberry OS. Android is not secure. Another is the non removable battery. Apple knows the phone will be replaced by users when the battery does not last a long time. A nice sales gimmick designed to sell more phones.

Re: Interesting Facts - BlackBerry

1. Their tablet was late and a disaster. Let's not forget it had no e-mail client at launch (how many people were working on that one) and was not upgradable. Oops.

2. Looks like Blackberry dropped the ball on that one. Again and again.

3. They are all gone now.

BlackBerry also had Co-CEOs who were not very good at seeing the future, but one was very interested in buying a hockey team. And backdating options. Their one shot - one - and making a dent on the iPhone runaway train was too little, too late and too weak.

BlackBerry failed in the phone market. Nothing will bring that back. They are now being moderately successful in the mobile management and software areas.
