Most finders of lost phones try to access personal data

Interesting article. Not sure if you can say 'most users' with a test of 'losing' 50 devices....but still interesting.

15% of all passcode sets were represented by only 10 different passcodes (out of a possible 10,000). The implication? A thief (or just a prankster) could safely try 10 different passcodes on your iPhone without initiating the data wipe. With a 15% success rate, about 1 in 7 iPhones would easily unlock--even more if the intruder knows the usersxxx8217; years of birth, relationship status, etc.

There's a good lesson in this article, even if the survey is based on a narrow sample set. Passwords are a must. You set it and get used to having to unlock your device. It soon becomes second nature, and the hassles it can save you are tremendous.
