Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000)

I'm pretty sure you need a data plan to use it.

Does the 8900 have WiFi? Because if it does then find somewhere you can hookup to WiFi free (Starbuck, most local libraries) And go from there, if it doesn't support WiFi, then you might be out of luck.

You can download the App over wifi however, the App will not work without a data plan.

Dawg 04-27-2009 02:31 PM

why would you even want it with out a data plan? You cant use it.

Dookie_stain 04-28-2009 12:53 AM

I've tried to download it through wifi and it just says my blackberry doesnt meet "system requirements" you would think it would work... is there any other way?

daphne 04-28-2009 01:00 AM

No.

And even if you could download App World, which you can't, it would not work, so what would be the purpose of having it?

This might help you understand.

No, I would not. Why do you think it would work if you don't meet the system requirements? http://forums.s2kca.com/images/smilies/rolleye2.gif

You might want to start here: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/requirement

Quote:

System Requirements

To ensure that your BlackBerry® smartphone will support BlackBerry App Worldxxx8482;, it must have the following system requirements:
  1. BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.2 or higher
  2. BlackBerry smartphones with trackballs or SurePressxxx8482; touch screen
  3. BlackBerry App World is only available to customers in US, Canada and UK and may not be available on all networks
  4. To use BlackBerry App World, you require a service plan that includes access to the BlackBerry® Browser
How to check your operating system from your BlackBerry smartphone:
  1. Click "Options" from your BlackBerry smartphone
  2. Select xxx8220;Aboutxxx8221;, then click. Your BlackBerry smartphone operating system information will be displayed

I don't know how to make this any more clear cut.

Get a BB data plan.

Even if (and you CAN'T) you were to jam it onto your Blackberry somehow, it would never show any apps. It would be blank and give you cryptic error messages about no internet connection.

App World Without Data Plan

Don't give 'em such a hard time. I don't have a Blackberry plan either but it doesn't make me a lower life form. I loaded App World onto my 8320 via Desktop Manager but was unsure at the time if it would work over wi-fi without a data plan.
And FYI, you can download games an things from App World that will work without a data plan. That was my intention. And I just wanted it on my phone.
