Check Email without Black Berry Internet Services by Wi-FI
 

I don't subscribe any Black Berry data plan (Black Berry Inetrnet Services),
can I use my Blackberry Bold 9000 to check email by using Wi-Fi?

you can check your email on the browser via wi-fi yes.
you can't have your email pushed to your device using wi-fi because to have push email you need BIS.

If you handle a lot of email, you will want to have the BIS

if you have gmail and have the gmail app, you can set up to notify you whenever you have a new email, the gmail icon will have a notification on it

Your phone will still need to be in a WiFi area in order for this to happen. Again, it is best to get BIS. Also, doing a search before posting might assist you in your quest for answers.

I seem to be able to get BB push mails via wifi when I roam though and radio is off.

do you have a BB data plan? and have setup email on your carriers BIS site?
If the answer to that is yes, then yes you will get email via wi-fi.
wi-fi connects to BIS, and therefore you will have you emails pushed.

If you have no data plan, you cannot setup push email to start with and it wont matter if you have wi-fi on or not.

So WiFi won't work without a dataplan? I just changed my SIM card, and my IT guys haven't linked the data plan on yet. Am trying to connect via home WiFi, which worked previously, and now it doesn't seem to connect. No mail, no web access on the browsers.
