Offline Satnav please
Hi all.
My name is Mike and I live in Greece. Very nice forum you have here! I just bought a blackberry 9360. Very nice phone, light, fast and with many apps. It is my first experience with a blackberry phone. I just upgraded also to the 7.1.0 software. I am desperate in finding an offline gps satnav application (turn by turn). I do not want to waste kb or mb of my internet usage (emails, web surfing etc) when using the phone as a gps navigation system. I do not mind paying for buying it. I just want it to be perfectly used offline. I have been reading the first topic of this thread. I see that maybe Garmin is good for the job, but I wanted to double check with you before buying it. Ofcourse I can understand that some special features (like traffic control, weather etc.) need data usage. I don't want to use these features. I just want an offline turn by turn navigation system. I have tried ubinav (it needs internet data usage). I have tried we-travel (I think is not good at all). I have tried wise pilot (I think it need internet data usage too). So, is Garmin what I am looking for? Do you have any other suggestions? Summarizing I want a sat nav application which: 1)Can be used offline 2)You can download and store your country's map in it. 3)Preferably with a one-off fee (and no annual subscription). 4)To provide a map for Greece. I thank you in advance for your kind replies/suggestions! |
Re: Offline Satnav please
The Garmin BlackBerry application uses data and doesn't work with BlackBerry OS 7 or above.

Re: Offline Satnav please
Your best and most economical choice is a stand alone GPS device.
Check out the sticky at the top of the GPS and Map section for reviews of most of the map applications. |
