When there is a missed call BB doesn't show the number

Hi for some reason the BB doesn't show the number of a missed call if they leave a message. I prefer not to check messages as it costs money to retrieve and it takes so long it could be somethign urgent. Does anyone know how to change this or is it a BB default thing?

This is not a BB issue. It's a mobile network issue.

Ah ok only had one provider since i had the BB. So used to knowing who has called and never used to have to check messages...thanks
