Re: BlackBerry Playbook upgrade OS v1.0.5.2304
It killed my playbook temporarily.
I had it plugged into my USB 3.0 port (feature allows it to be used for charging only) Upon reboot I get red flashing lights. 1...2...3.4 (2 slow, 2 quick) I had to seemingly press and hold the power button for eons (dunno about you guys but I cant even tell I'm pressing mine) Eventually it stopped.. I got it back on. That was not fun. |

Upgraded 4 PlayBook's, worked like a charm. Let's hope it's fixed most of the bugs I've been reporting.

Re: BlackBerry Playbook upgrade OS v1.0.5.2304
OK, so here's the deal. I downloaded and installed the update this morning and then did a restart. Then went into settings and saw that it still says that 1.0.5.2304 is available. So I downloaded, installed and restarted again. Same message. Is there anything else I should be doing?

after 2 unsuccessful tries via WiFi I updated via Desktop Manager. All good now.

Re: BlackBerry Playbook upgrade OS v1.0.5.2304
More than a few had to use the DM method to be able to upgrade the OS. Not sure why, doesn't seem to have a specific cause...
My first try this morning didn't go so well, so I waited to get to work, and it worked like a charm there. |
Re: BlackBerry Playbook upgrade OS v1.0.5.2304
I had a similar experience with failed update, on the first try. The download seemed to go alright, and I clicked install, walked away for a moment, came back, and the PlayBook had rebooted and was still running 1.0.3.
I ran the update a second time and watched the PlayBook the entire time. The install ran to 100% and I got the restart button. Clicked restart. Now running 1.0.5. I guess the install aborted the first time. Interesting the failed install didn't mess up the device software when it went south. Cool. Obviously, staying with the PlayBook and staring at it the entire time is what did the trick. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |

Update faultless. Nicer, smoother, sharper experience.

Re: BlackBerry Playbook upgrade OS v1.0.5.2304
With the previous version I was having firewall issues with video chat. I think this update has solved it. Tried vChat with my friend out east and it worked fine. Even behind a Juniper SSG5 firewall without making any exceptions.

"Video Chat Connectivity -- Adds support for the TURN (Traversal Using Relay NAT) protocol, which enhances Video Chat connections between users on home, public and enterprise Wi-Fi networks." Cool thing is that my boss used to employ the guy who came up with that update. 8-) |
Re: BlackBerry Playbook upgrade OS v1.0.5.2304
The update went smooth for me via OTA tethered.
I can confirm that the PB will now charge while turned off. When off, and you go to plug the unit in, the red LED light will come on, then it goes from red to green and flashes to let you know it's charging. Works like a charm... (y) |
