I'm trying to find a program that turns on the backlight when I get a text mail. I don't always see the little red status light when it is laying on my desk.

John Clark 04-14-2008 11:37 PM

I don't think that exists.

chercm 04-19-2008 09:41 AM

i cannot unzip the those files ...

Guru 04-20-2008 06:42 AM

Me neither. Nor can I access the OTA site

Waythos 04-20-2008 10:17 PM

It appears I can't download these files to my Desktop. Are the files still active and available?

Is there no other place anywhere on the internet with that file on it???

John Clark 04-21-2008 10:07 AM

Sorry about that. The attachments were lost in a server crash this site had last month. I've updated the attachments there.

Much obliged

Well, I solved it for now. When it is on my desk I elevate it up enough so I can see the status lights. Kinda neat really as I see the BB better.

I can see the status light better this way elevated on prop.

Can't see it so well laying flat. When it vibrates it slides off the prop.

Donation-ware clock program:

Welcome to FreeJ2ME, home of free phone software (if I've copied the about info correctly)

You set up the cities you want. Can display just text (digital) or "round" analog images.

John Clark 04-25-2008 09:56 AM

And this works on Blackberry?

If we are still talking about the CLOCK program (off topic), then, yes, it is running on my BB 8830.

bblight 1.82 will not load on 8330

I have the .cod & .alx files for bblight. However, when I attempt to use App loader to put these on 8330, get message "No additional applications designed for your device were found" Can someone help me? I've used bblight forever and miss it on the new phone. After checking other apps, same error message on all 3rd party apps.

Tom, you must download and install your handheld OS to the PC...

I read through the thread but didn't see an answer -

Has anyone gotten bblight to work on newer devices? I couldn't get it to work on my 8700 and I just received a 8820 and it doesn't work either. For example if I activate bblight and set it to keep the backlight on while powered it will still go off after my 2 minute setting is done.

Any help would be appreciated - I really like that app.

Thanks,
SMF

It worked great on my 8830 without any problem. Had problem loading on 8330 due to my ignorance and not loading the device software on PC. Is there another 3rd party app that may be conflicting?

SMF 05-09-2008 11:47 AM

TOMSMALL,

I don't know. Perhaps corporate policies would conflict with bblight but I had it on a 7230 and it worked great. On the 8700 and now 8820 it doesn't seem to work. All were at the same company.

What settings do you use? I would like the backlight to at least stay on when the BB is on external power.

The "extra" apps that I have running are - Beyond411, Opera Mini, Gmail, Gmaps, Viigo, Microsoft Live Search, Empower Insta Spell, and BBSmart.

Appreciate any help you might be able to provide.

Thanks,
SMF

Mine works fine in the 8320. My backlight stays on all the time when plugged in externally. I used the settings by clicking the icon and options.
