Mac Newbie - Help please

I'm not well versed on Macs and my wife just got a Verizon Tour. She installed the Desktop Manager on her mac, but I have only used the windows version, so I need a little help.

What mac software can DM use to sync contacts and calendar? Is it only iCal? And does that have contacts? And what other software products can it sync with?

How do you direct the DM to sync with it and where do you set the sync parameters? Any help would be much appreciated!!

I ask because my wife connected the tour, hit synch by accident, and it wiped all her contacts and calendar off the BB. I would rather she reenter the info on a desktop calendar/contacts tool and then synch it to the BB.

Thanks!!!

iCal, Address Book and Entourage for sure.

You can also set up Google Sync to sync calendar and contacts with Google Calendar and gmail contacts, OTA.

My wife uses Yahoo Mail. Can she sync to Yahoo Contacts and Calendar, too? The Yahoo mail syncs OTA, but I did not see how to sync the others. How does she sync the Yahoo contacts and calendar? Can it be OTA, or is it done via the Desktop Manager?

And how do you indicate in Desktop Manager which one you wish to use?

Did you try a search? I don't use Yahoo at all, so can't help you there. I recall that is has been discussed previously however.

I had tried to search Yahoo previously, but I only found how to sync mail.

In our Forum? Using Google?

I'm searching this forum now. I'm still not clear if Yahoo sync can be done through Desktop manager or requires a 3rd party tool. Again, I'm trying to do this on a mac, so the choices may be limited. I haven't found how to set up OTA for anything other than mail.

Im unsure if Yahoo uses iCAL protocol but if it does; then the Mac's iCal can use it and update as well in sync between the two; if I'm not mistaken. Keep digging you may find a new solution.
