New AT&T version?

I'm confused. Dragonryder said here that AT&T has released an OS version newer than .246. But I can't find it. If I go to the AT&T blackberry site, I still see .246 offered. If I go to "Options->Device->Software Updates", it says my phone is up to date. Where did you find this update?

Re: New AT&T version?

No. They did not. There are plenty of non-att os's later than 246, but no att version.

You can load any carrier's OS, just delete the vendor.xml file.

Sorry fortnotes, that was my BIG screwup. I misread the page and was all excited for nothing. I'm sorry that I misspoke and got AT&T users all heated up. .246 is still the latest AT&T release.

I have recently gone from .448 to .526 OS and it is doing well. It's a little faster that .448 and I'm waiting on battery usage to see of it is at least the same or better. If it's worse then it's back to .448.

Again, sorry all for not confirming before I posted my thread.

526 is now an official ATT release. DM should find it for you

Re: New AT&T version?

Yup.

526 is now official. But, if you look for it on RIMs AT&T software portal, it will be at the bottom of the page instead of at the top (where it usually should be). They just haven't re-ordered the listings yet.

installing it on a user now.

I downloaded it from the AT&T site this morning and am about to install. Don't know why it is not "stuck" to top of 9800 discussion as jsanders alerted me to .526 on Saturday via a "tweet".

Re: New AT&T version?

I got it. DM 2.0 for the Mac recognized it straight away. It did blow away my Google Calendar sync. Had to D/L and reinstall Google Sync to get it to work. Seems OK now.

That is the only issue that I have seen so far.

It's available on the AT&T Blackberry site now, but wow.. do I ever hate it. I'm going back to .246 at my earliest convenience. .246 worked fine for me, and the new one really slows this device down and it's far less responsive.

Interesting experience...

I just updated from .246 as well, and it did not slow mine down.
Responsiveness seems about the same or maybe slightly faster.
I'm watching it to see if it is more reliable with WI-FI than .246 was.

Re: New AT&T version?

I have yet to notice anything profoundly different in day to day use. Just subtle web browser stuff like the thumbnails, which I was able to set back to the more efficient, easier to read list view. All in all, not a BFD. Oh, selection within a text/email is a bit different. The track pad is as spastic as ever.

Re: New AT&T version?

Yall should post in the Official OS thread, this way everyone see what OS you are talking about. Also, what is different about the text/email selection. I have not had a chance to dll this OS just yet.

Re: New AT&T version?

"Select" is no longer in the menu. I now have "start selection" and "cancel selection." Also, dunno if this is new, but if I position the cursor in a text and press the trackpad, Scrolling selects text. Better I guess.

Re: New AT&T version?

This OS is horrible. Frequently freezes (thinking icon spins forever) and the battery life sucks. Hard to believe this is an official release.

I'm rolling back to the .450 beta. It was stable and battery life was decent.

Re: New AT&T version?

No such issues here. And now the little beeotch inside can pronounce the word "home" if I use it in a address book entry. That alone was worth the upgrade.

knottyrope 04-22-2011 01:19 PM

Re: New AT&T version?

home was worth it?

what did it say before?

Re: New AT&T version?

hom. short o. not a huge issue, just a nuisance. Get it? Nuisance? I crack myself up.

Yeah, it's really noticeable. I'm giving it another try, but I tell ya, I have the exact same apps installed - nothing open - you really can tell the difference. 246 was far snappier on my Torch.

I guess I'll wait for some new betas to come out, but I'm really not happy with this at all.
