Unlocked BB on Hosted BES

Hello,

I am considering upgrading from my Nexus One to a new Bold 9900. Before I do I had a question that I can't seem to get an answer to.

I do a lot of traveling, and I want to receive 'push' email when I am abroad. That said I don't want to pay ridiculous roaming fees. As such I will be getting Pay-as-you-Go SIM card's whenever I travel as I have always done in the past. Now in order to get Push e-mail to work internationally am I best to go with a hosted BES e-mail service? I guess my question is, if my device is registered with a BES server can I swap sims on an unlocked phone and maintain full push e-mail and BBM or does my PIN need to be deregistered from one provider then registered with another?

Thnx

You can simply swap SIM cards, but the new SIM must be provisioned for BES data service.

Does this remain true even if the Hosted Service is a BES Express, which I hear works with BIS data plans?

If you are on BESx, then all you need is BIS data service. BES requires Enterprise (BES) data and BESx requires personal (BIS) data. Just make sure that the hosted Exchange service is actually running BESx, not BES.

It depends on the carrier. Rogers, Telus, and Bell require you to be on either a BIS personal plan or a BES business plan on your device. Where as Virgin Mobile Canada in corporated both BIS and BES on personal accounts.

Unlocking the device itself so you can use it with another carrier has to be done either through the original carrier or through a 3rd party source, BES has no control.
