BlackBerry WiFi Compatability with Lantronix WiPort Wireless Servers

Hello All,

I am using a Lantronix WiPort Wireless module for an application. This module transmitts a WiFi beacon with a SSID attached to it. My Dell laptop wireless card can see the SSID of this WiPort Wireless beacon. Apple i-Phone can see this WiFi and anyother mobile with WiFi access can see the beacon apart from BlackBerry Mobile Phones. I tried 2 versions of the BlackBerry Models, the Bold & Torch 9800 and none of these 2 devices can see the beacon sent from the Lantronix WiPort module.

I contacted the Lantronix in US this matter and they are further investigating if there any compatability issues on WiFi links with BlackBerry smart phones. This is really strange that the BlackBerry device can't pick the beacon because this is a standard WiFi frequency in the range of 2.412 - 2.484 GHz with Network Standards of IEEE 802.11b ; IEEE 802.11g.

Can anyone help if there are unique features on BlackBerry SmartPhones that prevents the access to such networks.

A reply is greately appreciated,

Thank You Very Much,
Regards,
Mihiri

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan on the device and have you tried accessing other WiFi access points?
