BB 8700g - Can I turn phone off and leave data on?

Is there a way for me to keep my BB 8700g data (network) enabled (turned on) but have my phone disabled (turned off) for a week or two?

I'm going overseas and do not want to accept (pay for) any International Calls while I'm away, no matter how brief.

But I have a BES email package via T-Mobile that is affordable, so I'd like to be able to keep sending/receiving email.

If I use the "Turn Wireless Off" menu option on my BB device, both my phone AND my data (email and Web Browser) are disabled.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

That's what I thought at first. But I've found out that even if the call is ignored (unanswered), it will go to voicemail. And when you're in an International area, each ignored call that goes to voicemail counts as 1 minute at International Rates.

That's unacceptable. So I have to either find a way to turn off the phone only OR power off the entire device.

That just doesn't seem right to me.

Hmmmm. Interesting request. To the best of my knowledge, you will have to go through the carrier

Can you not redirect your phone to VM (usually you can do this by dialing star then a four digit number) such that your phone doesn't even ring? Not sure if they would still charge you, but in theory the call shouldn't be routed to your phone, hence there's no international charge for your carrier. I would ask your carrier about it as akosnitzky says.

just cancel your voice mail for the two weeks...

How to??
> Just go to the Call Window [PHONE Icon]
> Menu and select "Options"
> Select VoiceMail and change!!!

Hope it helps you!!!
