OS 9800: 6.0.0.695/6.0.0.246 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.695 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 6.0.0.695
Consisting of:

* Applications: 6.0.0.246
* Software Platform: 6.4.0.105
* File name: 9800M_PBr6.0.0_rel695_PL6.4.0.105_A6.0.0.246_Roger s_Wireless_Inc.exe
* File size: 161.7MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software, from AT&T: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4
* Download Software, from Rogers: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C068A355BBA31A

Instructions for installing on the 9800:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

I have version 246 from the leaked source.

Is it useless or not to replace it by the officila build released now by Rogers?

Thanks

Does Asia include English?

Sorry for such a noob question, but if I want English and Asian fonts, which OS version do I want? Asia or Multi-language?

Also, can I use DM5 to install OS6?

I have not updated to DM6 yet due to the lack of features with BES.

Rogers has a jAsia version of the OS. This would be the one you would want.

Downloading.....will advise later...

Anyone know if this a published update from a beta since 141?

majorxp 10-01-2010 03:13 PM

OK....good update. It seems much more responsive and the unlock lag is gone.

AT&T just released .246 - available on the blackberry.com site

IwantaBlackberry 10-05-2010 06:28 PM

I just checked for the update via my phone. It's downloaded and is now installing on my phone wirelessly. How cool is that well I did'nt know it could do that so I'm impressed. RIM and At&t have done a good job.

Nevermind. Updated OTA since AT&T released .246.

strange... I am on .214, and when I search for the wireless update, it's telling me my software is up to date...

Not strange at all.
You need be running AT&T's .141 to be able to use Wireless Update.
You're currently running a non-approved OS.

Restored my apps and data from back up and device is very snappy

Rogers loaded .246 on their 9800s on release date, September 30, 2010.
Bell and Telus also launched the 9800 on September 30. I wonder what OS they are using?
Rogers, Bell and Telus were all scheduled to release on Subtember 24, but all delayed until Sept 30. I speculate that it was a software issue, and having tested .246 decided it was worth the delay to get .246 on the 9800 on release date, instead of having to upgrade within days.

I got mine on the 30th on Telus and have .246 installed.

Ahh, okay! Thank you for the clarification! I am going to update to this soon. Anyone recall the differences between this and .214?

shanezam203 10-07-2010 11:44 AM

Updating now ota...

I hope this solves some slow response to touches in Media with my 8gig card. Is there ANY chance my 8gig card with 35k photo's is causing delay?

I've had the phone 24 hours and media is STILL scanning.
Shane

You're kidding, right?
It's going to take a week to scan and index them.
It's a phone, dude!

Didn't have any issues on my 9700... I use an 8gig Micro SD but Blackberry Media sync to sync Media in iTunes and Pics. That is a big problem you think?

Same here, but I did it ota. Improved the response time a great deal for me!

Thank you,

Shane
