Is 9700 much better than 9000?

Personally I like the trackball because I find it easier to navigate so how much different is the 9700 to the 9000 and will I get use to it after using the trackball for so long?

Please do not double post. Once is enough.

I can't answer your question because I have not used a 9700. However, IMHO, it is a very subjective question that only you can answer.

Personally, after using the trackpad on the 9800, i prefer it over the trackball on previous models. But that was not what you asked.

And a bit less attitude will probably get you a better response and people will be more willing to help you.

Well thank you anyways. I just wanted to know if its easy to adapt to the trackpad after using the trackball for awhile.

It won't take long to fully appreciate the trackpad. The trackball was easily subjected to dirt, etc, which caused occasional glitches and made cleaning necessary. The trackpad doesn't have that issue and is a pleasure to use.

I agree with Howard, I had to replace my trackball twice on my 8300 not to mention cleaning the pocket jam and gunk from it every couple of months. No such problem with my 9700.

Now I really liked the wheel on my 7200...

IMO, trackball is only better to play brickbreaker...

I admit that I miss the trackball myself, but after nearly two years with my 9700 I got the feel of the trackpad and I have adapted perfectly well. I think the idea of the trackpad is to save replacement from dirt and oil buildup under the trackball, but I know many people who used the heck out of their 8900's and still have no problems with it after several years. Furthermore, after a short time with a new trackpad it has a tendency to recess on one corner or another, and it would have a slightly crooked look. The good old paper tape trick can fix that, though it is another topic. Overall, the trackpad is great to use and easy to adapt to.

Trackpad is way better IMO. I think they went with this A) because of the dust issue around the trackball and B) to get to something a little like a lot of the "touch" phones. I got used to it in a day. It may be the best hardware update RIM ever did.
