OS: 9630 5.0.0.1061/5.0.0.624 (All Languages)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1061 (All Languages)

Package Version: 5.0.0.1061
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.624
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.285
* File name: 9630jAllLang_PBr5.0.0_rel1061_PL4.2.0.285_A5.0.0.6 24_Sprint_L.P.exe
* File size: 149.15MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9630:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Stuck.

JSanders 05-04-2010 02:46 PM

and nice.

Raptor464 05-04-2010 02:51 PM

This is the latest I've seen...there may be a higher version coming soon.

rambo47 05-04-2010 02:58 PM

Is this the one Sprint just messaged me about? No details in the message, just that "there is a new software update available". I'm not touchin' nothin' until somebody else vets it. Hell, I'm still on .419!

juwaack68 05-04-2010 03:07 PM

Could be...this one is from Sprint.

I just got a message from RIM about it. I'm downloading it now. I love living on the bleeding edge! (or not... I don't think I want to downgrade to an official release)

Wirelessly posted (Let's go Siena!)

Same here. I'm running .643 and unless there is something amazing about it, I'll hold out!

Anybody on this version aware of any issues with the earpiece volume? i remember some folks having issues with the Verizon version.

Thanks.

jsker 05-04-2010 05:13 PM

seems about the same, the browser is faster.

djdonnyk 05-04-2010 08:23 PM

I just got a message today as well, I don't know whether to try it or wait for 6.0

mmaldin 05-05-2010 09:26 AM

Loaded it last night, no problems. Faster browser - no click issue, 10MB+ more free memory, more stable signal....not fluctuating as it did before. Time will tell how the battery likes it.

PJD642 05-05-2010 10:34 AM

I'm confused...I'm using beta 5.0.0.662, with platform 4.2.0.303.

So is 5.0.0.1061 a newer version (higher number, obviously), with an older platform? What difference does the Platform edition make anyway?

Not sure if I should switch to this one or not.

djdonnyk 05-05-2010 12:29 PM

Loaded it today and so far no issues, it even did an automatic BES activation which was great. I will see how it goes the next couple of days and report my findings back.

.662 is a higher version than this version, .624

jkrieger 05-06-2010 05:21 PM

Updated through Desktop no problems. One thing I noticed immediately is that I am able to make new appts when I was not able to with recent official Sprint version (which I posted couple times and got no responses).

skllndy365 05-07-2010 07:51 AM

Hows the browser and clicking on links with this update?

paramedic233 05-08-2010 09:11 AM

Wirelessly posted (Let's go Siena!)

The way it should be, one click and snappy!

djdonnyk 05-08-2010 03:45 PM

I haven't noticed any major changes except faster browser and 10MB of memory, anyone else notice more?

skllndy365 05-09-2010 10:49 AM

Wirelessly posted

I'm still experiencing problems when clicking on links.
