Upgrading OS 4 to 5- for Begineer

This is my FIRST BB9000.
Am using- v4.6.0.303 (platform 4.0.0.248)

I downloaded latest OS from blackberry site for bb9000,
installed it...
Went to RIM folder and deleted Vendor.xml..
and clicked LOADER.exe.
Clicked all the NEXT BUTTONS,
and it seemed it backup and restore my phone only...!

Coz i dont see any changes in my DEVICE under OS its still old..

Where am i going wrong??

Welcome to the Forums.

If it is your first BB,why are you so hot-to-trot to update the OS?

Why not use the device for awhile first. Find out what it can do and cannot do. The 9000 was not designed for OS 5 since it was not shipped with it.

You may find that it works for you and does not need to be fixed with an OS update.

Please do not double post as once is enough. The second thread has been deleted.

lol ... "hot-to-trot"..i lik tht !

Am updating coz, was thinking I maybe missing some good apps ??
SO u say OS 5 , wont function well ? ... COz also my battery currenty stay only for 1 day, so may itll improve in OS 5 ??
SO abt my issue, what i noticed is the program is only doing backup and restoring..
Do I have to "ADD the OS" somewhere in the process ??

And please do not write in text-speak.

Battery life depends on use. One day is generally considered pretty good. Just don't let the battery get below 20% more than a few times or you will damage it and will have to replace it. LI batteries like to be kept topped off when you are near power.

I cannot say how your device will be affected by OS 5. I always had 4.6 on my 9000 and it worked well, did what I wanted it to do.
