Could be a while....I haven't seen any newer OS's than this one for the 83xx yet.

If you saw sluggish performance I would suggest a battery pull or just wait till the berry can catch up to the os. Usually it will drag but once thats done it will be normal.

So can someone outline for me what the benefits are of upgrading from 4.5.0.110. I was on 4.2 before that, so the need for change was obvious. However, if there are not any significant changes between this new OS and 110, is it worth my while?

Hi there.

Has anyone else got round this issue? I to get the Data1.cab file error and have tried downloading several times??

I did give the device some time, including completion of enterprise activation. Believe I pulled the battery as well, but don't remember. In comparison, as soon as I downgraded back to 4.5.0.110, the device was fine after enterprise activation.

I've been having the Data1.cab file problem as well. The first time I downloaded the OS update, for some reason the file skipped it's remaining 80% it still had to go and finished with ~19MB. Needless to say, it didn't run.

I've tried downloading three times more and have gotten the full download, yet get the Data1.cab file.

I guess RIM needs to make one measly adjustment.

JSanders/John Clark

Is the download available for any other carriers so we have a different download link? I have tried many times and it only downloaded fully three times and each time it failed to run with a cab error. Seems like a few others have this issue too.

Thanks,
Diarmuid

Please note that it is not coming from a carrier web site. It is coming from a RIM server. Their servers are notoriously overloaded. You can search (Google) for other branded sites with that same release, but if it is being downloaded from a RIM server you may have the same problems.

What languages are included in EastAsia?

diarmuidg 01-16-2009 11:33 AM

I finally got it downloaded today (after about 20 attempts) and the install went smoothly enough (except that it never restores my mail but I do that manually). I have noticed a huge improvement in speed especially in opening mails. Haven't noticed any application/feature changes yet.

MaddestMax 01-16-2009 03:17 PM

Has anyone installed this under Windows 7? Just curious before I muck up my BB. :)

Michael.Bauer.127 01-17-2009 05:11 PM

I got it downloaded and everything went smoothly finally.

jbn241 01-17-2009 07:56 PM

What are the benefits from the last update?

Shaolin 01-17-2009 09:58 PM

I went from 99 to this update and noticed a slight improvement in speed of loading apps. Other than that, I haven't noticed anything different. Everything's running normally like before. I've only had this update for about 24 hours though.

Very wierd.. d/l and installed 4.5.0.124 onto my 8310. Ran Crackmem 3.1.. found new OS. Executed checked actions. Then ran loader (per 1st post), new OS installed ok w/extra memory avail but found that deleted items weren't all deleted, most notibly vendor theme and vad.

attempted to correct w/JC's post (manual changes)...
I deleted installed OS folder, re-ran install OS. re-ran CrackMem. Then deleted vad files manually from java folder. Then ran apln loader. Said no changes needed. So, how do I kill VAD??

3rd try...
Re-ran apln loader. said updates avail for many system files. said to update. came back w/msg "the system aplns that are currently installed on your device are newer than those available with this version of the BB device software. click options if you want to install older aplns" -- clicked options -- warning "adding this s/w will downgrade your current aplns. do you want to continue?" clicked yes. showed screen w/apln upgrade details and looked at modules.. said installed version 4.5.0.124 - available version 4.5.0.81.

But, where is .81 coming from. I don't have anything but the download file on my system. The only OS in program files-shared-common-RIM-shared-loader is "8310-v4.5.0.124_ps.7.0.92"

Does any of this make sense??

Can anyone verify whats new in this release?

John Clark 01-18-2009 01:00 PM

There's nothing new in these small updates. There are likely just small bug fixes that you may or may not notice.

Pflugerbill 01-18-2009 04:48 PM

What is the Wireless Upgrade tab?

ukulele_ninja 01-18-2009 11:57 PM

I seem to be getting the same errors as everyone else. Any figured out a work around yet?
