Proxy Settings for Wifi Use
I have had my Bold for about a month now, and I love it.
However, I have a real gripe, which is that I can't seem to find any way of configuring proxy settings for Wifi access at work. I work in a University which offers free Wifi, but if you're connecting with a PC/laptop, you first connect to the network. After that, you need to alter the proxy settings in your PC's internet browser. This takes you to a secure login screen: once you type in your staff login and password, you can surf to your heart's content. However, I can't find any way of configuring proxy/LAN settings on the Bold in order to access the login screen. Can someone please put me out of my misery, either by telling me once and for all that it can't be done, or by showing me how it is done? Many thanks! |
Proxy settings cannot be setup on a BB.

Thanks for putting me out of my misery!
I know that most people will use standard Wifi networks, but it seems something of an oversight on RIM's part not to have this functionality in their flagship product. Thanks again. |
Just had a thought: proxy configuration is a software feature, not a hardware one, so what's to stop alternative software from allowing this type of config to be achieved in future? It's clearly not possible at present to change proxy settings in Blackberry's Internet Browser or Hotspot Browser, but what about other browser apps? I have Opera Mini and can't see any way of doing it, but if anyone out there knows otherwise, I'd be delighted to hear.
EDIT: For example, here is a KB article on how to get an app working behind a proxy... Does anone know of any way that such an approach could be used to allow my BB to connect to my work Wifi proxy? Okay, so my post count is too low to post links, but it's Blackberry Knowledge Centre Article DB-00047, about configuring MDS Simulator to work behind a proxy. |
WiFi Problem
I have put in the IP, Gateway address manually. But there is no profile for VPN. Cannot connect to the server whenever tried to connect to the wifi. Any solutions?
