Upgrading 8300

Good Day Board,

I would like to know if its okay to use the 8320M_PBr4.5.0_rel75_PL2.7.0.66_A4.5.0.52.exe file to upgrade a 8300? I have used that file to upgrade my 11 8320 BBs and I have a 8300 in the mix and was wondering if it would be ok to use the same file?

Also if its not possible, could I simply just download the required file and then rename the current AppLoader folder and install the file for the 8300 and then it will recreate a new AppLoader folder and put its own stuff in there and then I can just rename the folders as I need to upgrade my phones?

Can I do that with the 8100 as well (change the folder that is)?

Thanks.

It won't work.
You cannot install 8320 code onto an 8300. Many have tried. It doesn't work. Copying files will not work.

You must download and install the equivalent 8300 code.

And it ALSO won't work with the 8100. You must download and install specific handheld OS files for each BB. You can have more than one on a PC.

Ok, Got that.

But just to clarify, you're saying that I can just go ahead and install all the codes for the different modules on the same PC and not have to worry about them overwriting files for the other modules, and when I connect the BBs it will recognize which one it is and load the appropriate files?

Correct! The installation routines will all get installed in separate folders in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared
