Free Visual Voicemail application
I wrote an application called VyMail that interacts with the YouMail service and provides a visual voicemail interface no your blackberry. Basically a free alternative to the default visual voicemail application that Verizon provides. More information is here: joekrill.com - VyMail - YouMail application for Blackberry devices , and the direct OTA download link is: www.joekrill.com/vymail/ota/ (I can't post URLs directly yet, sorry). I posted this on the CrackBerry forums and got a great response, so I thought I'd spread the word a little more.
This will run on any Blackberry running OS 4.1 and above, actually. It's fairly light on features at the moment, but I plan to add much more to it. There is also an audio issue with anyone running the 4.7.0.75 verizon software. There's a pretty major flaw in that version which prevents me from routing sound through the speakerphone speaker, so it will only work through the headset in that case. |
Guys, this is a phenomenal app. He is not spamming, or trying to get hits on his website. You owe it to yourself to go check it out. YouMail in itself is amazing, and this application just sends it over the top and wraps it up into a nice, neat little package.
Joe, you're the man. |
Thanks to dhendriksen... I tried this app. It is OUTSTANDING !
Nice work Joekr ! (y) |
I really like the Vrizon VVM but it is just too quiet to hear anywhere other than in a closet by yourself. Does this application work any better? Does the recording have enough volumn to hear it in a normal environment?

strange.. I downloaded the program. . . left myself a message but it won't pick it up in my mail box.
|
nice app joe, thank you, you just made my youmail experience even better. i know i wont be using vvmail ever.
|

I have been running it and haven't experienced any ill effects. Just sheer bliss from being able to use YouMail again. |
Any screen shots?
|
i have not heard of youmail before and have just setup my phone. youmail is amazing i have always wanted something like this but did not feel i had to pay verizon extra for their service. besides youmail provides so much more than visual voicemail from verizon. thanks for the heads up.

also joe quick question that sync interval value in the options has 5 minutes default. i assume this is not polling my youmail account every 5 minutes right?
|
running .83 os and the youmail isnt synching with my voicemail. no visual mail shown.

So if you log into youmail.com you have messages but they aren't showing up in vymail? Are you getting the sms/email (assuming you have them configured) from youmail? |

Does anyone know if it changes the icon upon receipt of a new voicemail? I've been too impatient to wait... ;-) |
