On T-Mobile apps without BIS?
 

I'm thinking about buying a 8220 on T-Mobile with unlimited messaging and no data plan. My question is: would the applications still work on WiFi?

And would I be able to download apps OTA from the BlackBerry website? I understand that one needs BIS to do this.

Also, would IM work normally on a T-Mobile messaging plan? Or would I have to be in a WiFi Hotspot for this to work?

You will need the blackberry browser to download OTA and that requires a plan.

In my experience, most apps that require network access will only work when you have a data plan, not over wifi. This includes the provided IM clients and the google apps.

There are a few apps that are wifi only, and a few apps that have an option to choose the mobile network or wifi (i.e. Bolt).

Hopefully, these folks will release new versions that allow you to choose which connection to use.
