Torch 9860 is not using Wifi at all

Hi all

I purchased BB Torch 9860 before two days and I already have plan for the data package (200 mb). I connected it to my WiFi at home and it shows that it's connected. Now when I'm at home and I want to surf the internet, it's using the carrier data package, but I want it to use the WiFi. I searched all over and I can't find any solution. any help?

Notes:

On the home screen, I can see my carrier name (Etisalat) and my WiFi network name. When I go to "Manage Connections", it shows that I'm connected to the WiFi network; but I've never seen the WiFi signal icon in blue or green or any color than grey (which means the BB is not using the WiFi at all)
I want to set the default internet access as WiFi. but How ?!
Some people told me that it will switch automatically between WiFi and data package, but as far as I see, it's not switching at all.

This is my WiFi Diagnosis Report:

How do you know that it is using the carrier data? usually when a BB is connected to WiFi data goes that way.

Re: Torch 9860 is not using Wifi at all

Because when I set in dead placs at home where I don't have carrier signal, internet stop working. Also, when I switch off my Mobile Network, I became not able to use the internet. Also, people told me that the WiFi signal will be colored when it's used so, it's using the data package and it's really too slow in surfing. I want to use the Wifi because my wifi internet speed is broadband 8 MB.

Any help :-( ?

But you won't get anywhere near that on a cell phone.

That above implies you're not connected to BIS using wifi for whatever reason. Maybe you don't have the proper service books.

Hi... I think I'm having the same problem as you are. When I'm not connected to WIFI, I only connect to carrier. Browse to internet everything is ok. But when connect to WIFI, switch OFF data, I can't browse anymore. Even if I let both carrier & WIFI connected, still can't browse. Same goes to the rest of apps (BBM, email, FB, twitter).
I really don't understand the situation. I've used nokia before, when connected to WIFI, we start browse already.
FYI, while trying to configure the problem, my laptop is connected to the same wifi and no issue browsing internet.
I even made a few screen shots but dunno how to post them here.

Anyone can help me please...

Same situation here, it is because you only limited to BIS

That's why the WiFi is useless

Is there anyway we can enable the WiFi, it is faster than the BIS

Please help...

Is your data plan a specific Blackberry data plan? If not, you do not have the proper Wifi service books as devnull suggested.
