loaded BB 8520 os on BB 8530, please help.
 

Hello everybody,
i am new to the BlackBerry Forums and i rlly need ur help.

as the title says, it pretty much describe everything.
i have installed BB 8520 OS on my BB 8530 and now my Desktop manager reads my device as 8520 so i cant install the correct OS for my 8530.

i did that by mistake, i was trying to get the latest BB 8530 OS for my device but i didn't notice that the link on the forums says 8520 and installed that OS on my Device which is BB 8530 and now i cant undo that.

tried everything still no success, can anyone plz help me.

The OS is device specific as you found out. Wipe your device with Jl_cmdr (see the FAQ) and then reinstall the correct OS.

If DM is causing a problem, you can try BBSAK (BB Swiss Army Knife- use Google to find it) to wipe and reinstall the 8530 OS.

Tried to wipe with Jl_cmdr then later on when i try to install the OS for BB 8530 via APPLoader it doesn't work, i just tried it with BBSAK still doesn't work.

Remove the 8520 software from your PC
Install the 8530 software
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER - you did not delete VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive.

Please (please) follow the instructions TO THE LETTER for your 8530 and you will be able to recover.

1- uninstalled anything related to BB on my PC.
2- reinstalled BB desktop software.
3- redownloaded the latest OS for 8530 from this forums.
4- deleted the Vendor file.
5- i used BBSAK to wipe my phone with it.
6- tried to load the new OS.

result: SAME THING

Are you 100% sure that you have an 8530?
Look at the label under the battery please.

ok that rlly seems so strange, when i bought that phone 2-3 months ago i didn't have much experiance with that BB Stuff but by time i started to learn from here and there.

this might seem rlly stupid but i am 100% sure & positive that when i used to go to options then ABOUT it said 8530 also i got 2 of my friends who bought the same phone with me from the same store and when they go to options > About it says 8530 but the funny thing is that.

when i did what u just told me, it said on the back 8520 how is that possible.

they sell the 8520 device with 8530 OS to trick ppl? and i rlly remember well that i have seen it many times cos i been doing lots of updates on the phone, not only my phone but my 2 friends device as well.

plus i am 100% certain that i did before update my phone with the 8530 latest OS from this forums & it worked fine, until i had to clear my phone now etc to install a new OS on it and boooooom thats what i find out

The 8530 is a CDMA only device. You never had it, and it never had the 8530 OS on it. You have an 8520.

You are mistaken. It happens. So now, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 8520, the device you really have, and it will be fine.

It is IMPOSSIBLE - 100% guarantee - to load the OS for one version onto another version.

If you're on vodafone, its never been an 8530 because it wouldn't work on that network.
Its an 8520 and always has been.

i guess u all were right & i guess it was my mistake, maybe i got confused or something.
thanks alot 4 ur help guys, cos i rlly was going crazy about this and u cleared to me that there was no problem, the problem was me :D

i just need ur help with 1 more thing, i am trying now to get the latest 8520 os from the thread at this forums, but the problem is that the link download rlly slow for me, about 8 to 10 kb if i am lucky dunno why but i dont get this problem when i try to download anything else, so if u could tell me where can i download this OS for my BB 8520

Srry for double posting.

its all good now, found another link for the latest OS and it download fast 4 me so everything is now fine, i will load the new OS once its done & will back everything up to restore it once the new OS is loaded on my phone.
