5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.7.1
Hi there,
After upgrading the web client I have users unable to send email from their BB to anyone on the corporate network. The can recieve from the corporate network and send to anyone elese. Here is the full message: The following message to <user1@mycompany.com> was undeliverable. The reason for the problem: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.7.1 <user2@mycompany.com>... Access denied - on relay of: MAIL FROM:<user2@mycompany.com>' |
found the following:
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1893.html 5.X.X = Permanent Failure X.7.1 = Delivery not authorized, message refused The sender is not authorized to send to the destination. This can be the result of per-host or per-recipient filtering. This memo does not discuss the merits of any such filtering, but provides a mechanism to report such. This is useful only as a permanent error. hope this helps |
It's happening to me too. This is what I am getting on just one particular e-mail address since I upgraded to BIS 2.0. It didn't happen before the upgrade. I need to get this resolved.
From: "Mail Delivery System" <MAILER-DAEMON@smtp01.bis.na.blackberry.com> Date: 16 Jun 2006 04:19:04 To:!bis-xsana@mycingular.blackberry.net Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure) The following message to <david@jones.fsabus.co.uk> was undeliverable. The reason for the problem: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'<!bis-xsana@mycingular.blackberry.net>: Sender address rejected: Please use user@domain address forms only.' |
This does not look like valid email address: !bis-xsana@
Notice exclamation sign at the beginning. Find service book named WebClient in your blackberry and delete it. |
5.1.0 550 Error, too
Since downloading the new BIS 2.0, I cannot send email to anyone on my existing email listings/address book. I can send email to other accounts but none from my address book (which are all business related) by using the "send once" feature.
I could send emails to anyone before the BIS 2.0 upgrade. When I try to send an email to someone from my existing address book, I get the error listed in this topic The following message to XXX@XXX was undeliverable. the reason for the problem: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550 - Denied by policy If I type the business address in and send as a "one time" email, it also doesn't work. Any suggestions???? Paula |
I'm having the same problem too. Can't send to my corporate network.
From: The following message to <user@domain.com> was undeliverable. The reason for the problem: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'<me@domain.com>: Sender address rejected: Blocked' Anyone know how we can fix this? Thanks, Cindy |
Spoof Spam Filter
I think our problem is being caused by a spam filter that blocks spoofed email addresses.
We're working from that angle now in hopes of resolving the issue. Cindy |
Got Ours Resolved
Spoof Protection was enabled on the spam filter service we subscribe to. Once we turned that off, we are able to send to our corporate network from the blackberry (sprint.blackberry.net) address with Send As/Reply To set to our corporate domain.
Of course, that creates other potential issues, but it did fix this problem. Cindy |
I have the same problem. I'm not sure how to turn it off on my ned, but I don't think I would want to. It's a security issue. The old BIS correctly identified the sender as , with a 'reply-to' address of . This is something that should be fixed on RIM's end...

I found out a little more about the problem. In my mail server software there is an option called 'ip shielding'. So someone attempting to send email as is blocked, if their ip address is not valid for the mycompany.com domain.
Does anyone know if RIM is working to fix this? Is there a workaround that avoids turning off this security feature? Thanks! --bill |
I am having the same problem. Any email I try to send to my company does not get there. I then get an error message like the one above. This is a HUGE problem!!!
When I upgraded to BIS 2.0 there was no warning that this could happen. It mentioned something about BES, but we don't run BES. I'm in Sales and this has already caused issues that could affect my paycheck. Somebody at RIM needs to get on this pronto!!! Has anyone come up with a solution besides turning off security features at the company server? I don't think this is an option. HELP ! ! ! |
the solution is not to spoof your reply to address
your server is blocking it as spam when you do this |
We are not filtering IP, nor do we have Spoof Protection
I'm still having issues. Corporate is considering dropping the service because of this. They're talking about getting a Treo now!(n)

Not an option either

that's why integrating the account instead of forwarding ot to a BIS address would work better
you have the seperate service books for each account w/ BIS 2.1 - therefore can send using whatever address you want |
also w/ BIS 2.0 you don't need to even set up the blackberry.net address

I can use OWA and I can setup a POP account with Outlook Express...but I couldn't get either option to work with the Blackberry...leaving me no choice except the blackberry.net address. Well, mail connector was an option...but not an acceptable one. I could get it to work on a desktop that had to have Outlook open at all times. But my laptop users did not have that option because Shared Mail Connector would not work...support was no help with that option either. |
Your best option is to have your company provide BES service if they want to support blackberry devices. Have you looked into the free BES-Express offered by RIM?
