Torch 2
Research In Motion’s “best BlackBerry ever” — the BlackBerry Torch — definitely wasn’t the most competitive device to hit the smartphone market place. But it looks like RIM is trying to change all that with a new take on its QWERTY, horizontal-slider: the BlackBerry Torch 2. BGR has exclusively obtained a photo of the BlackBerry Torch 2 along with the device’s full specifications. Was the Torch’s 600MHz CPU a bit too underpowered for you? You’re in luck, as we can now confirm that the BlackBerry Torch 2 will feature a 1.2GHz CPU with hardware acceleration. Full specifications after the break!
* 1.2GHz processor * Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE * Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps * 3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive display * 8GB built-in memory * 512MB RAM * Bluetooth 2.1 * GPS * NFC * 5-megapixel camera with flash * Magnetometer * Accelerometer * Proximity sensor * 1300 mAh battery * BlackBerry OS 6.1 * OpenGL ES * 14.6mm thin Yes, the BlackBerry Torch 2 looks very similar to the original Torch, and we’re told it’s basically the same on the exterior except for a matte silver finish. Internally, however, you can see that there have been quite a few changes made. The BlackBerry Torch 2 is tracking for a late Q3 release on AT&T. http://www.bgr.com/2011/01/13/exclusive-blackberry-torch-2-gets-detailed/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaig n=Feed%3A+TheBoyGeniusReport+%28BGR+|+Boy+Genius+R eport%29&utm_content=Google+Reader |

Re: Torch 2
i think ive would hold out until this drop get the evo march 1 paly with that and open up a second line for this yes there is a god would this phone be on there new 4g network

Re: Torch 2
3rd quarter release? why? If this is basically a souped up Torch, RIM should be pushing this thing out the door now, not quarter 3. This is what the Torch 1 should have shipped with, waiting until late Summer is foolish if you ask me.

Re: Torch 2
the low screen rez really baffles me. storm 3 will be 800 by whatever and this?....2008 resolution lol. i think the torch2 will have the same rez as the storm3 by the time it comes out otherwise it's really an irrelevant phone in the 2011 line up. In fact i'd get rid of it all together. Now that there's gonna be a touchscreen bold, u don't need a torch. just a curve, a bold, a and a storm. Done. no?

Re: Torch 2
Sounds like screen size envy. ROFL.

Re: Torch 2
More devices, more choices. Not one device is for everyone.
Be lucky we have choices unlike some phone makers. |
Re: Torch 2

The torch is perfect for me. Touch screen when I want to cruise, keyboard when I need to work. Indeed, I understand that the iPhone will soon come out with a touch/board slider of its own. |
Re: Torch 2
Have you seen this little bad-boy?
It seems more manufactures is looking at the dual function of qwerty & touch screen - not just RIM & iPhone!! HTC ChaCha - Full phone specifications |
Re: Torch 2
Don't see this one flying much further then the first torch. No front face camera? No Skype? No some native app for video chat? No go...
|
Re: Torch 2
Video chat seriously not that big of a deal in fact I don't want that.

Re: Torch 2
But I want it. So what is gonna push you over the edge to buy torch2 over torch1 looking at the spec? Why do we need 3 or 4G if not for video? Not for email or browsing for sure.
