WiFi T-Mobile issue
Hello All,
I’ve had a couple of BBs and love them both. I started with an 8110. Gave that one to my wife(who by the way submerged it intentionally, long story, for about 20min..once it dried out worked flawlessly and she is still using it today) I don’t mean to beat a dead horse (or issue) but I’ve read many posts about the problem I’m experiencing. I know things are changing all the time and if the answer may not be the same today as it was a few years ago. I needed to change to a more “cost effective” carrier due to job loss. My wife ,son and I went from ATT to Tmobile. The only feature I miss about the change is being able to use wifi in my home with my phone. We unlocked all of our devices and did not purchase T mobile devices manly because we liked what we had and there was no additional cost. The young lady said the wifi would not work unless we purchased Tmobile devices. I’m relatively new to all of the phone terms. We have the bottom of the line data plan. I know this much, isn’t the “radio” part of the phone independent of the wifi? What does Tmobile do to the phone to make it not work with my wifi. Is there a patch (i.e. remove something software wise) that I can perform to get the wifi back? The phone recognizes the wifi but redirects the data through the radio part of the phone. Any suggestions…….. |
Re: WiFi T-Mobile issue
1. You will still need a BlackBerry data plan from T-Mobile. Do you have that? Call to make sure your plan includes BlackBerry specifically.
2. WiFi will work on devices not sold by T-Mobile, but not WiFi calling. You may, however, attempt to follow these instructions to get UMA working:http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...tethering.html |

Thank You DC/DC (You're not a converter I hope?)
Yes, she specifically stated wifi calling (i have no need for that) Briefly, what is UMA or should I Wiki that? |
