BB London launching in Q3 2012
BGR just heard from a trusted source that the dummy device the Verge posted an image earlier today is indeed a real BlackBerry, and it should in fact launch as the company's first BBX-based smartphone. Our source told us that the BlackBerry Colt, the first QNX handset RIM had been working on that looked just like a smaller PlayBook, was scrapped in favor of the BlackBerry London. In terms of release timing, it's looking like the London is slated to launch some time in the third quarter next year, possibly late in the quarter. Remember, RIM still has not been able to get BES or BBM working on BBX devices; probably the only two features BlackBerry phones are still known for these days so launch details are anything but firm right now.

Re: BB London launching in Q3 2012
I'm not a fan of the form factor, but this could be a very good phone.

I like the look. I'll give it a chance when it comes out. It may surprise me (No 'qwerty' keyboard I mean)

Is that true?

Re: BB London launching in Q3 2012
Supposedly there are stories from the developers at RIM that the QNX OS on both the Playbook & the phones still do not work with BES or BBM. If this is true, then I seriously doubt that 2012 Q3 is an option.
And I'm not talking about not having the bugs worked out. It literally does not work at all. They've been working on QNX for almost 2 years now and their core BB functionality still doesn't work. RIM management is incompetent and needs to go. |
Re: BB London launching in Q3 2012
It will be nice when QNX finally becomes of age. I like the look of the London, a little more memory would be nice 32GB or 64GB to be more competitive with the iPhone and other devices. Hoping the best for RIM in 2012.
