Can't set up email without BB ID????

My hubby let me take his upgrade, and so I now have my lovely Torch, on Sprint service. I'm trying to set it up, and set up my email for this phone. It won't let me. It's telling me I have to have a BlackBerry ID. One sign in for all BB services, and automatically transfer some of my email accounts and services when I change smart phones. NO NO NO! I don't want my data any place but my phone and my computer. On the style I could just set up my email account, but selecting the email set up gives me the BB ID business. How do I get it to just let me set up my email? I went to Options>Device, but it won't let me turn it off.

I'm not saying it's malfunctioning, but is it just going to let me set up my e-mail, or is this where it uploads all my contacts or something? It's not AT&T, so I didn't think it would do that. I'd really like to get some stuff from app world, like youmail, but I'm afraid to accept it till I know if this is what it means.
TIA

Sorry but you HAVE to use the BlackBerry ID.

It's not going "upload all your contacts" though.

I assume you are trying to set up a personal (internet) email account. I didn't think it would require a BlackBerry ID to set up email. I have set up several devices at work for people and am able to bypass the BlackBerry ID setup and get their enterprise email setup just fine without the BB ID.

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan on your line/device?

I do have a data plan, text, email and web. All worked fine with the Style, I just wanted to change the same email over to the Torch. It wouldn't let me, kept coming up with the BB ID. I saw MM said it wouldn't upload, so used the same sign in as what I used on the style. It signed in, and now won't let me buy an app. Sigh, purchase error 30220. I see on the BlackBerry support forum many are having the same problem. Some have fixed it by holding down the alt key and pressing r s t, but not sure how one does that on a touch screen phone. And I don't think the Torch has an alt key does it? I'm not seeing it on the keyboard. Just the shift key. But other than these messes (it did let me set up my email then) I'm really liking this Torch.
