reading is possible on some roms. writing is possible on beta roms for 8700 that were not made public. i tested a beta device(8700) that i got from RIM and it worked fine. i am not aware of any publicly avalable ROM the fully support arabic

GT5L 08-23-2007 08:14 AM

the answer is no, i dont't think BB supports typing in Arabic unless you get an On Screen Keyboard, and I don't know how to do that

Well that is flat out wrong, BB supports Arabic input and reading

download attached ZIP file
1. Extract the two files to known directory I recommend C:\
2. Connect BB to the computer via USB
3. On the computer get to the command prompt, if you have XP click on start run and type cmd hit enter
4. Type javaloader -u load <Pathfilename>

Your BB will reboot once or twice don't panic, you can read Arabic and Hebrew emails, webpages, SMS ... etc.

It took me an entire day to figure this out, with the help of other posters here and there. I know some of you might not care but this is important for anyone who would like to read in their native language.

Thank you so much.... It worked on my 8300 curve. I did panic a little but at the end I was so happy. Thanks

Plzz Help

Gents,

I have BB 8800 and I’m desperate to add the Arabic reading support! I’m not sure if the above steps will work on 8800?? I even took the risk and tried it but it didn’t work as I got the error message (javaloader is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file) I think I didn’t know how to write the command?? Not familiar with command prompt here!!!

Plz let me know how if anyone got this batch working on 8800 and how do I write the command?

P.S. This is how i wrote the command: (javaloader -u load C:\net_rim_font_semtic

Thanks

Nextel User 08-28-2007 03:19 PM

that is very wrong....
type javaloader -u load <filename> put files in the same folder as the javaloader. (you do have the javaloader.exe file, right) (sorry, had to ask).

gr8guy 08-28-2007 03:39 PM

Thanks alot for the quick response!

Don't b sorry i'm a newbi in cmd!!! yes i do have javaloader.exe and i have extracted the zip file in C: files which were extracted are:

Javaloader
net_rim_font_semitic
and the text file

I just tried opening the cmd and typed: C:\javaloader and i got the application! Then i tried typing (C:\javaloader -u load C:\net_rim_font_semitic) and i got the error message unable to open the file

I feel that i'm pretty close :-o
