Rogers Release date for 9000 Bold
ATTENTION! Read all about it!
New CONFIRMED launch date for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 from Rogers. Today I was talking with my contact, who works at Rogers Head Quarters in Toronto, and we had a nice discussion about the release of the device and why it hasn’t been released yet and to whom it will be released first. At first the rumor was a launch date for June 25th (via internal RIM document), but the device was apparently pushed back by Rogers as there were issues with the 3G radio. My contact (who will remain a secret) confirmed the use of the device by numerous people around the office. He also confirmed that Rogers will be the first to launch the device in all of North America! He later was able to tell me that the device is slated to be launched July 25th. That’s right people, confirmation from an internal source at Rogers that it will be available to all on July 25, 2008! Way before AT&Ts rumored launch time frame of August. I was also able to confirm that all of Rogers BlackBerry devices with WiFi will not be crippled as previously rumored. You will be able to browse the internet using the WiFi. But only the 8120 and 8820 will be enabled for UMA. When I found out this information, I then contact my other numerous contacts within Rogers and they all confirmed the July 25th launch. So start saving, and get ready for the biggest device to date! And don’t forget to mark your calendars! I know I already have! |
Thanks for that head's up... finally and hopefully before the end of summer :)

What would they gain by disabling the UMA? That's my main reason to get the device. Rogers signal is terrible in my area, but UMA would have made it bearable for the rest of my year and a half contract! If that part is true I'll be less then impressed.
|
the reason why UMA is not in the bold is because the chip set is not build for it... the chip sets used for UMA only come in EDGE and UMA... there is no chip set build yet that have 3G and UMA... its just not technologically available right now
|
I'd be more impressed with this news if it hadn't already been reported in several other BlackBerry/gadget sites first, several days if not weeks ago.

Name two, specific sites with this info?

I'm not trying to flame anyone or step on any toes, but I don't see anything new or revealing in Cory's post. I assumed the July 25th was the correct date a while ago because so many people with "sources" were pointing to it. I appreciate anyone providing info, so please don't take this as me trying to tear down Cory, a poster I've grown to appreciate. |

No, I didn't try to hard to flame anyone because that wasn't the intention. |
Looked to me like you didn't try too hard not to.
My point is there's no need for the post above. if you already know about the news/post, move on. Leave the moderating to us. :-) |

Would that an adult who moderates this board show the same courtesy instead of trying to bait me into some silly message board kerfluffle that will no doubt end with you suspending/banning/damning me to Disney World. |
I am sorry and my hat off to Cory.
How is this different that other rumors. Officially announced? Not! Sorry Cory, your source is likely correct but until Rogers says so, it is rumor. |
