Using Dial by letter for letter "x"
My Blackberry (8800) fails to dial by letter for letter "X". For example it fails to call a number like 1-800-XM-RADIO. The letter "x" I think is reserved for dialing an extension. Is there a workaround for this?

You should be able to just hold down the ALT key while typing the letters. I tried it on my Bold and it worked. |
That's exactly what I do. When I type "Alt X" I get a lower case "x" and when I dial the call fails!
Did you try to call 1-800-XM-RADIO? |
What OS are you using? I can dial 1800XMRADIO just fine.

Thank you. Updating to 4.5 did the job. But now I have another issue!
Appliactions like Opera, Yahoo! Go, etc.. seem to have problem connecting to the internet. I recall there was a way to send Service Book to the Blackberry and ususally that did the trick. My mobile carrier is T-Mobile. Any help on this is much appreciated. |
1. Go to Options >Advanced Options >Host Routing Table. Hit the menu key and select "Register Now."
2. Then go to Options >Advanced Options >TCP and reenter the apn settings: apn:wap.voicestream.com username password leave username and password blank. |
Thank you very much John. That fixed it!
Unfortunately I have one more problem. I get an error when I try to backup my 8800. The message is "Error backing up databases" It first failed on RMS databases. I cleared that database and next it failed on "Phone call logs". Now it is failing on "Memory Cleaner Options". I don't know how far should I go. Or if there is some memory corruption in the device! Any help on this is very much appreciated. |
