Problem with BES Activation through China Mobile
 
I have a 8700g and have not been able to get the BES activation to work. My BES is in the US, and I am in China with a China BB enabled SIM, and we have tried the following;

- multiple account id's and passwords
- resetting at the server end and soft.hard boot and reset at the phone
- Activating from different locations (signal strength)

The BB tries to activate and then after about 10 minutes comes back with
"server not responding, contact your admin"

Here is what is working;

- Phone
- Internet Browser
- SMS

Here is a strangeness

I can send a PIN message to anywhere in the world, but only China based BB's can send PIN's to me????

Before I resort to a small hammer to fix the problem, I am hoping a very bright spark out there may have an idea.

Do you use Outlook? You could try a wired activation - I have to resort to this for some of my remote locations since their 5.5 servers are on 32k connections. Ugh.

Set up your Outlook
Start up Desktop Manager
Ensure DM says "Connected" and "On Line" at the bottom of the window.

Usually it will start on it's own "In order for message redirection..." and move the mouse around until the progress bar goes away. This usually works. If not, wipe your Blackberry and try again.

No resolution yet....she hasn't called/emailed me back, and the BES still shows 0 for her PIN. I assume she's not in much of a hurry.....
