Wifi and BBM (iknow, i know)
 

I know this has been asked before around 100 times, and i did search. In every thread, there are both opinions YES and NO.

Anyhow, Here i go and ask.

I had data plan and have a pin for BBM.
But now, I am short on cash and canceled my data plan to save up.

So i tried BBM on wifi and it didnt work.

Can anyone tell me why and how can I make it work since some state they have been able to make it work?

PS: I changed carriers and i have a curve 8520

So after some more reading, as far as I understand, since I changed my network and sim card, I need to subscribe at least ONCE on the BB server through my new carrier, then I can stop my data plan and BBM should work from there on through wifi.

Can anyone confirm this?

You need to maintain a subscription to a blackberry data plan.
You can't subscribe, cancel and then expect it to work. It simply doesn't work that way.

No one can use BBM without a BlackBerry data plan. If you read that someone can, then you read bad information.
