Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.2218 / 7.1.0.794 (jAllLang)

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.2218 (jAllLang)

Package Version: 7.1.0.2218
Consisting of:
Applications: 7.1.0.794
Software Platform: 5.1.0.571
File name: 9900wapijAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel2218_PL5.1.0.571_A7.1 .0.794_China_Unicom.exe
File size:286 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...AE3246E810A259

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Can someone confirm if they fixed the calendar bug?

In Calendar if the default view is Monthly on my 9700 i would choose a day i had set an appt and it would go straight to the first appt in the day. With the 9900 it goes to the top of my calendar which starts at 5am instead of the first appointment on that day no matter what time it is set.

I reinstalled them and notifications seem to work fine again. Was very surprised to see that it updated my twitter and facebook apps from the previous os during the os install. Updated them to what since they were the official ones? lol. Had to reinstall them to get them working again. Great os though. Amazing battery and lightning fast. Thanx for the post mate. :)

I don't think that's a bug but the way it's meant to operate. It's been that way (although I have no idea why) in every OS since the 9900 was introduced. I did a small workaround by shortening my daily hours, so while not perfect it at least helps with the scrolling to get to an appt.

I know that no one has asked but am I missing something?
MY Windows 7 has folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion but not the one always listed in the instruction here in the thread.
Can someone please help? I keep deleting the file under apploader folder and it does not let me install the new sw. I have been installing thru BBDM whenever it becomes available.

Thanks

I don't know why the same old instructions for updating OS files continue to be set out. Those only are relevant for XP and previous.
With Windows 7, in almost every case there are two vendor.xml files which need to be deleted. I say "almost" as there was one update about 2 months ago which did not have the second vendor.xml file. Like you I use Desktop Manager to load a new os. Can't remember ever going directly to Loader.exe.

The usual location for the vendor.xml file is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

The second location for the vendor.xml file in Windows 7 is usually:
C:\Users\[myUserName]\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\Blackberry\Loader XML

If all else fails, search for the second vendor.xml file. However, I have always found it in Roaming subdirectory noted above.

try sending yourself service books again from your provider's blackberry portal or ask the customer care to push them to your device and see if that helps and follow with a battery pull and Host Routing Table procedure

Jim, this was very helpful and was able to install the software. earlier I could not find the 2nd vendor file but this was precise and took me to the right cave.

first install is causing some issues where I receive the call and no voice unless i switch to speakerfone. re-installing

Hi michaelanjelo - Yes, this OS is from Chinese Unicom. It should have Chinese language support.

Probably because this thread was from May of last year. Don't bump dead threads!
