OS: 8130 4.5.0.101/4.5.0.77 (Multilanguage)

This is for the 8130 model and will load on any carrier's 8130

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8130 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.101 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.101
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.77
  • Software Platform: 3.2.0.51
  • File name: 8130uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel101_PL3.2.0.51_A4.5.0.77_Fas t_100.exe
  • File size: 72.95MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C9D4DB0C6BBE45

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8130:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Then Download the above mentioned OS file to the PC and install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

Thanks Garz08 for the alert!

Yippee...thanks for posting!

I wonder how long this version of 4.5 will be available before it's removed... ;)

Knightstalker 09-24-2008 09:07 PM

Thanks for posting... Downloaded for the wifey's phone... Only noticeable problem is bb messenger is lagging... other than that no issues...

dstaff 09-24-2008 09:51 PM

"Loading application modules" now... :-)

I used this on my Sprint 8130 and have messed around with it a lot and things seem to be working well. No big news here but I thought I would at least let others know it isn't causing any issues.

It fixed one podcast that wouldn't play in Berry Tunes for me - my favorite podcast, so this one gets a gold star. :)

What is the difference between v4.5.0.101/4.5.0.77 and v4.3.0.170/4.3.0.97 as both are listed at the link you provided? Which one is better?

BTW I am with MTS Mobility, the carrier who gave you the original upgrade to the 4.5 O/S and then pulled it... LOL... And Here I am to coming after another carrier's approved release, any thoughts on carrier incompatibility issues with the new 4.5 O/S and MTS Mobility?

No thoughts, and no incompatibility.

This versions seems to have fixed the problem where the music player stops if/when you receive a audible sms alert. So far, so good.

What happened to my vender.xml file?

There is no vender.xml file anywhere on my computer.

I remember having to delete it for the previous upgrade, but I assumed a new one was made.

Now when I start the desktop manager it does not prompt me for an upgrade and does not list any upgrades.

Should mention that the software version I have is 4.5.0.56 (platform 3.2.0.44) running on Alltel.

Search your entire c: drive for the vendor.xml file. If you did the OS install to the PC, it will be there.

.21 ;)

No one really knows, RIM won't release any bug-fix sheets on each release. So far, it fixed a podcast that wouldn't play in Berry Tunes, and someone else noted that it "seems to have fixed the problem where the music player stops if/when you receive a audible sms alert."

Other than that, it's just try it and see. I'm not having any problems so far...

It seems much faster switching applications than .56.

It should be here - that's where mine are:

You mean using the "Switch Application" option on the BB menu?

 Thanx those of you who responded to me; I had downloaded but not installed the new file.. I've been trying to use my imagination to make up some exotic reason for the vendor.xml file to not be there, but, alas, boring embarrassing honesty has prevailed.

lol .. thanx again.. all is well.. the installation is complete now and my pearl is operating fine.

I can guarantee you that you're not the first.

I was over at my brother's house to help them fix a problem...they were installing some software and had to upgrade IE as a result. They told me they had tried 10 times in a row and IE still wasn't upgraded!

Went over and found that they had downloaded the IE upgrade file over and over (and over) again, but never actually run it. :)
