SMS won't delete?? Wipe required??
I have a few users that have some SMS's sent to them via our carrier that will not delete. They are running 8310 models and when you pull up the menu and select delete the message is still there. Our carrier tech support told me that I had to run the wipe on the device in order to clear messages sometimes.
Any suggestions? |
Have you tried pulling the battery. Letting it reboot then delete the message? Also I think the carrier Tech is crazy.

When I get in contact with the users of the phones with issues I will have them try that.

Yes it seems there are few and far between situations that actually require a wipe. Verizon's tech support only has 4 real steps:
1. Resend Service Books 2. Battery Pull 3. Wipe 4. Replacement I'm sure most carriers are probably about the same. |
True, but it also depends on the tech you get. A while back when I had issues with my Curve, the TMO tech I spoke to suggested a wipe, but as a last resort.
My issue ended up being a SIM card gone bad. |
This can be done via desktop manager. Plug the device into USB port, open desktop manager, select backup/restore, select advanced. When the right panel populates with the numbers from the device, scroll down to SMS messages and click 'clear.'
This is indiscriminate and will remove ALL SMS messages. But it will remove the messages without having to wipe. |
Wirelessly posted (from the best device ever.)
Have you been able to try this yet? |

I have no idea if this will resolve your undeleteable SMS issue but it seems to work for the undeleteable email messages. - From the BB tech knowledgebase at Blackberry.com which can also be a handy resource. |

Pulling the battery while the phone was turned on seemed to clear the message. However, when I turned the device back on I got: Code:
Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_phone_app(74) is not responding; process terminated |
