No new line with texting

Like many/most others I love my new 9700. However, with the new OS, while texting, I'm no longer to create a new line when I press return. BB automatically sends the message whenever I press return.

Is there a "fix" for this?

Options > SMS > Press Enter to Send = No.
And save :)

TonyTone 12-11-2009 08:08 AM

thank you kindly

TonyTone 12-11-2009 08:53 AM

actually - I just went to my options and there's nothing that would allow me to set the option of sending with return

so I still need help with this

The setting is under the BB options, NOT the message app options.

Go to: Options (wrench) / scroll to SMS Text / it's at the bottom of the SCREEN OPTIONS section "Press Enter Key to Send"

It's not at the bottom of options > SMS > Screen Options on mine. I'm using 5.0.0.351 (5.1.0.98).

HHmm I checked and I do not have that option neither. Although I do like that return=send :-)

Alt + Enter?

have you tried "alt + enter?" that might work with the 9700.
let me know if it works

Isn't that supposed to bring up the change language option?

I'm not sure...I have a Storm 9530, and when i hit my "alt" button and press enter, it goes to the next line. I imagine it would do the same on the 9700.

Right Shift + Enter = Next line

thebrownguy01 12-11-2009 10:38 AM

Shift + enter makes more sensexxx8230;I checked out my storm and I donxxx8217;t have an xxx8220;altxxx8221; button, itxxx8217;s just the shift button that I use. I was mistaken. But yeah, Shift + enter should do the job.

It must be OS version related...

TonyTone 12-11-2009 11:40 AM

- sigh -
the option has to be somewhere on the 9700

The shift enter works but the keypad is small enough so I don't really like pressing more than one key.

zerog46 12-11-2009 11:49 AM

It must be OS related not showing up on my 8530.

What version of OS are you using?

JSanders 12-11-2009 12:25 PM

Alternate solution: don't use the enter key until ready to send. You don't really need paragraph separation on SMS messages for heavens' sake.

(y)(y)

Jagga 12-11-2009 07:24 PM

Why would this even be set in the first place on the 9700??
