Samsung Captivate

I'm considering the Samsung Captivate for AT&T. Based on the YouTube reviews, it looks and acts like an iPhone with removeable memory and battery. Does anyone here have one? If so, what do you think of it?

Under the category of close enough maybe - I have the Samsung Vibrant, the T-mobile version. My major concern is battery life. I was getting 4-6 hours with most features turned off. Not sure if the Captivate has 2.2 installed, but the battery was a killer for me. It is a very nice phone... I switched back to the 9700.

Once the 2.2 Update is out it will make a big difference, at least it did on all the Moto devices.

Exactly how bad is the battery life? I can use my 9700 for a whole day and use not even a third of the battery.

On the Vibrant, with "Corporate" e-mail (some call it Exchange) and GMail, with very few additional apps, I am getting 4-6 hours max. You can watch the battery indicator drop.

And shutting off WiFi, BT, ..., ... to increase battery life to a more usable 12 hours is not acceptable.

It reminds me of the early iPhone days.

I have the Captivate. Battery life is not in the same class as the 9700. I've been playing with the settings to see what improves it. I'm going to try not using wifi at all and see what happens, hear that is a big drain.
Battery aside, I like the device, display is great, form factor is great, Android is great. If your looking for an ATT Android device, I would wait for a decent HTC device. The touch UI of HTC is nicer then the Samsung interface. I had the Aria for a few days and preferred that interface. The Aria was simply too small for me.

From what I've read, 2.2 is very close for the Galaxy S series, so hopefully the battery life will improve.
