Desktop Manager 4.6

So, I;ve downloaded and installed DM 4.6, but haven;t really noticed anything new over 4.5. Does anyone know what features were added over 4.5?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 9000 4.6.0.67)

Well when its official, it will include mediaSync and media manager.

Media manager is not new to dm. There are mainly cosmetic changes an a few big fixes.

Sweet, looking forward to this release... ;-)

I had to downgrade back to 4.5 for various bugs. 4.5 is still very stable and just as good imo

I'm still on 4.2SP2

not had a single issue out of 4.6 I love it

Funny that 4.5 is more stable than 4.6. BerryReview wrote today that Vodafone released DM 4.6. DM 4.5 is very slow but for some reason I prefer it to DM 4.3, so I'll keep it for now. The version of DM 4.6 released by Vodafone must have media manager in it, due to the relatively huge file size of the download. I also prefer the leaner DM w/o media manager. I already have Nero and very much prefer it to Roxio and also know from past problems that it's best not to have both installed on a computer at the same time.

Dawg... do you find it faster than 4.5??
Also, is there a way to do a custom install which excludes media manager?

yes i do actually

jibi 07-24-2008 08:16 AM

4.5 was crap. 4.6 was more crap. 4.7 is fairly stable.

juwaack68 07-24-2008 08:49 AM

Jibi, I wish you wouldn't hold back like that. Tell us how you really feel ;-)

Hmm..now if we could only find the place Jibi found 4.7, we could all stop dealing with crap! ;-)

BCollins521 07-24-2008 10:43 AM

It's on the side of his post...his secret liar...;-)

John Clark 07-24-2008 10:52 AM

I wouldn't call 4.7 all that stable....it locks up during Switch Device Wizard. Switch Device Wizard won't work at all.

NickfromIL 07-24-2008 11:38 AM

does it still take for ever to "check for updates" when you first plug the BB in like 4.6?

JSanders 07-24-2008 11:43 AM

Yes, but you can UNcheck that option in the install/setup on 4.6 and 4.7

NickfromIL 07-24-2008 11:45 AM

well I suppose i should have paid more attention

Yes, when you install it, go to I think advanced and put an X on the media part and it won't install the media manager.
