If someone on these carriers can get it to work then we all can get it to work. Follow jibi's instructions:

It works great on Sprint! (y)

OTA is http://www.blackberry.com/aim but trying it on AT&T gives you a message that "Your Provider does not allow access to AIM".

I was able to download it last month from here but it did not work since AT&T did not provide the service book for it. But then someone posted the service books for AIM and I was able to add those through DM. It worked fine. Now I have changed BBs and without that link working, is there anyway to get the actual program? Since the service books can be added manually, I just need to get the program. .cod file?

I have a 7520 and it works great. It's very similar if not exact to BB Messenger.

dandrzejewski 06-27-2007 10:57 PM

Any way someone can post a backup of the application here?

One way to get the file off is to use the "switch device wizard" which will put a copy of all of the OTA ALX/COD files you've downloaded in a temp folder... go into the wizard, get past the part where it backs up your device, then look for a folder named with your PIN.

Go here from your BB.

It wont allow you to download it if your carrier does not support it.

Okay, one issue; the service books from jibi's post seem to be old. Here is the info contained within:

schalliol 06-30-2007 08:57 PM

I agree that I'd like to try RIM's AIM app on AT&T. If anyone has any ideas how to get it to work, I'd love to know!

glehman85 07-07-2007 06:38 PM

beninark 07-07-2007 07:12 PM

I believe it is only working on sprint right now...I dont know if some one can fix it to work on other carriers or not...havent seen anyone try that yet.

sincere759 07-13-2007 02:33 PM

Anyone upload the servicebooks for this yet?

terryocana1 07-13-2007 05:56 PM

Alright - who has the solution for AIM with Verizon? I used the Service Book from BG from another thread, I downloaded the AIM ACX/COD files - everything installs great, but all I get is AOL saying it's connecting. So close but so faaaaaaaaaaar................

T-Mobile?

Has anyone managed to get this working for T-Mobile yet?!? :?

John Clark 09-17-2007 12:15 AM

JiveTalk just works so much better.....I realize it's $30 but it really does work better.

And that's what everyone used to say 2-3 years ago about VeriChat, too. And yet, when I tried it on my Nextel :bb:, it could NEVER log me into AIM, not once! It worked fine for Yahoo IM, but it was never able to log me into AIM, there was some problem with it, a problem that was still there through several new versions of the software that I also tried, so I uninstalled it and gave up on it. Luckily I never went beyond the free trial on VeriChat, so at least it didn't cost me anything to find out that it was worthless.

I later d/led and installed the official RIM YIM client, first on my Nextel BB, and then later on my current T-Mo 8700g. It works with no problem, which tells me that the RIM AIM client should, as well. (y) 8-)

So, anyone get it working with T-Mobile yet? :?

John Clark 09-17-2007 12:26 AM

Did you try JiveTalk? It does have a 30 day trial. I never tried Verichat so I can't speak for that one.
