BB Maps Installer 6.1 issue
 

Hi, i re-installed my BB Maps because I can't find its icon.
What I have now in Application Management is BB Maps Installer.
It won't allow me to install it.

Any help will be appreciated. TIA.

I'm having a similar issue. I just received a 9700 in part to use for satellite navigation, however, the BB Maps icon doesn't show up despite being installed (and re-installed). I have set all permissions to allow, and it still doesn't work. The GPS function is turned on and working, and a couple of other apps seem to work with the GPS, but BB Maps does not. I have also tried Google Maps, which installed fine and shows up, but when I choose it I receive the message "Network Unavailable: This application requires a data connection, and some BlackBerry devices require reconfiguration to work properly". I do have a data plan which works for other apps (Facebook, for instance), and I have also tried BB Maps and Google Maps at home when connected to the wireless network, which made no difference. I am running BB OS 6.

You need a blackberry data plan, not only a data plan.
Also, the seviceprovider you choose must not disable blackberry maps. Before ordering a blackberry data plan, ask them if blackberry maps is supported/availible.

If you go in the options/settings von the blackberry main screen, the, advanced, then: service books: what servicebooks are listed ?

The blackberrymaps (lbsconfig) is the service book, which is needed for bbmaps.

Hey!!! I too have the same p oblem with the bb maps. I tried downloading through App world and directly through the blackberry Site. But both ways it tells that it doesn't support my phone. I'm using bb 9860 torch and my carrier is Vodafone essar residing in India. Is it not available for India?
