Soft reset- recovering data space??

8830 blackberry periodically "crashes" when it runs out of data space and it wipes out 1) phone log and 2) most emails except PIN emails. this happens when I run lower than 1 million in available bytes space. I can recover a lot of data space by removing the battery from the back - which causes the BB to reorganize the data and recaption 7 to 9 million bytes in data space.

Q1- what causes the BB to crash and start erasing date (messages, phone log, etc) :?
>>Q2 - is there a "soft reset" i can do which has the same effect as taking out the battery? (namely, reorganizing data and recapturing data space?).

Thanks, Amazing Kenno

1. Read this: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ee-memory.html

2. Yes and No, according to who you ask.
Read this: How do I reset my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ
And the many many posts elsewhere on the forum on that debate.

Good luck.
