Remove IT Policy article

I removed the IT policy from my Blackberry as per the article at Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ.

Now I am unable to do a Bluetooth sync. The services listed in Bluetooth Options on my Blackberry are:

Headset
Handsfree
Dial-Up Networking
Audio Source
A/V Remote Control Target

Can someone recreate the policy.bin file linked to in that Blackberry FAQ article to set Disable Wireless COnnectivity and Disable Wireless Bypass to FALSE? It seems that these are not the default settings, so a blank, all-default IT policy will have Bluetooth disabled by default.

There is nowhere in the policy.bin to change bluetooth settings.

So I'm completely sunk? From reading around a bit, it seems that the Blackberry takes the absence of those settings as being set to TRUE. Surely they can be typed in and set to false?

If not, how do I enable Bluetooth sync? This has to be a pretty common question. :)

The blank policy used in the Remove IT policy is not a fix all for every problem. There are some things that can't be removed/changed, unfortunately. When OS 4.5 comes out we will be able to completely remove the IT policy. OS 4.3 and higher support the "resettofactory" command in javaloader which erases the device completely, including the IT policy.

Was the functionality there before placing the blank IT policy on the device?

Gotcha, thanks. So I'll get my Bluetooth back by Christmas. :)

John Clark 04-26-2008 08:52 PM

"IF" you had 4.5 now you could use the resettofactory command in JL_Cmder then reload the currently supported OS back to the device.

But I don't have it now. :)

And it appears nobody is allowed to post it. Perhaps I need to make a trip to ye olde pirate bay...
