4.1 worked and now its not

i have a 7100i and i was adding a new theme to my phone and then it went to the black and white "no theme" theme. so i changed it back to the default theme but now all my themes are not being read. so i thought they somehow got deleted but they are still in the application section of my phone. so i went to activate another theme that is still listed in the themes and i get this "uncaught exception: java.lang.illegalargumentexception"

i have tried to reload the 4.1 OS but it wont recognize it when i connect my phone up to the desktop manager. i have reinstalled it, deleted the files everything on my computer to see if i could reinstall 4.1 on my 7100i. anyone have any other ideas or solutions?

At last resort you might have to wipe the BB and reload 4.1. You can wipe the BB using javaloader

sweetvixen 05-20-2006 08:10 PM

how do i go about doing this? can you give me a step by step? where do i get java loader?

sweetvixen 05-20-2006 08:35 PM

Download the handheld OS from your carrier
Execute the downloaded program
Locate and delete VENDOR.XML from your PCs C: drive
Restart Desktop Manager

i did all that and the DM wouldnt recognize my phone. so im reinstalling everything on my computer seeing if that will work

koleary19067 05-20-2006 08:59 PM

Install DM first then the OS and then you should be fine.

sweetvixen 05-20-2006 09:03 PM

i did and the DM isnt recognizing my phone. should i just do the 4.0 and not the 4.1 first? could that be it?

koleary19067 05-20-2006 09:24 PM

No, the 4.1 is fine. Did you wipe by javaloader ? I just wiped my the other day. I wiped the BB first with javaloader. Uninstalled the DM and OS from PC. Downloader the DM and OS and executed. When Dm manager screen comes up, click the application loader and then the DM will find the BB

If your themes were from 4.0 then that is the problem you initially had. Just change them to 4.1 and everything will be fine.

sweetvixen 05-21-2006 08:05 AM

it worked beautifully... now if i could just get the service books i am missing for attachments and verichat... i've resent them already lol help!!

sweetvixen 05-21-2006 09:21 AM

koleary19067 05-21-2006 12:31 PM

Did you reinstall verichat ? I don't have this program so I am not sure how the service books works with this program.

Well, I am glad that you got the BB up and running.

sweetvixen 05-21-2006 05:45 PM

Or, consider deleting and undeleting. I've had that work on a couple of occasions. Sometimes, that's what it takes for it to "reregister" them.

Hope that helps.
